You found the correct answer for this:

5 + 3 + 6 + 4

However, the actual problem was slightly different:

5 + 3(6 + 4)

Notice that there is no addition sign between the '3' (outside the parentheses) and the quantity inside the parentheses. When no sign is shown: MULTIPLY!
