Parentheses do indicate multiplication, BUT
you must finish all the calculations inside
the parentheses BEFORE you multiply by the
outside number. (Note: You can `distribute'
across parentheses -- a necessity in algebra
if variables are involved -- but in this case
it is not required or recommended.)
EXAMPLE:

6 + 2(4)
